Brief Summary of Job Description
The Transfer Recruitment Specialist in the Office of Admissions serves as the point of contact for all prospective transfer students, as well as adult learners/non-traditional students; actively recruiting through communications, on-campus visits and events. The position requires learning and understanding institutional practices on transfer credits and degree completion, general studies academic requirements and pathway/2+2 programs; frequent travel to community colleges in Nebraska and region to establish and maintain relationships; and ongoing communication with prospective students. The transfer specialist will maintain contact with and continue understanding of departments and programs, through relationships with faculty and staff, to serve students through the recruitment and enrollment process.
Job Duties
Serve as the main point of contact for prospective transfer students and, in collaboration with the operations staff, guide them through the admission process answering questions related to their status from application to enrollment. Actively recruit transfer students during on-campus visits, transfer-specific recruitment events at 2- and 4-year institutions in Nebraska and the surrounding region. Develop and cultivate relationships with faculty, staff, and community organizations invested in the transfer student population. Manage, develop, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all aspects related to transfer students in geographic areas that are relevant to enrollment strategy and activities; analyze CRM data and work with Associate Director to make recommendations on strategies. Provide leadership for admissions counselors on trends, travel, relationship building/networking, ideas for professional development; as well as direction on key markets and areas of focus including formal presentations parentheses on and off campus parentheses in those areas in conjunction with admissions counselors .Provide direction and support for the structure and programing components of transfer-specific events including Enrollment Days and Transfer Orientation (both on-line and on-campus).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree; Ability to interact with individuals in a variety of settings. Excellent verbal and written communication, management, and problem-solving skills are essential. Must have experience with and demonstrated ability to relate to first generation, low-income, non-traditional, and minority students. Basic computer expertise with word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, e-mail, Internet, etc. are required. Ability to work independently essential. Travel is required. Must have a valid driver’s license. Evening and weekend work is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with transfer students; Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, counseling, or other related field; Bilingual (Spanish)
Physical Demands
Schedule Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm, evenings and weekends during peak seasons
