Learning Strategies Coordinator
The Learning Strategies Coordinator position is housed in the Academic Success Offices (ASO) and is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Learning Strategies Office including the LNSK 103 University Foundations three credit transition course. The Coordinator will perform the administrative duties and provide the overall leadership for the research, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and instructional functions for the LNSK 103 University Foundation program.The position requires teaching, plus training and supervision of assigned instructors for the LNSK 103 classes as well as curriculum maintenance and updates. This position requires close collaboration with other academic departments on campus i.e. English, College of Education and nonacademic departments i.e. 1st Year Experience, Learning Commons, TRIO, etc. This position also works collaboratively with other ASO colleagues to ensure that participants in the program have access to the support services they need to meet their academic goals. Further responsibilities are to the TRIO SSS program reflecting responsibilities to develop, monitor and evaluate the SSS TRIO/UF curriculum. Responsibilities include advising students in the Conditional Admit program. Responsibilities also include assessment and evaluation including learning outcomes, teacher evaluation, program effectiveness, student academic performance and retention. Further, the position acts as study skills consultant for students, faculty and staff; implement presentations and workshops; participate in campus community and professional development opportunities. Finally, the position serves as team member in accomplishing unit mission and goal, oversees Conditional Admit Students and collaborates with Admissions, the Learning Commons as well as the Success Coach Program.
Job Duties
1.Teaches LNSK 103 University Foundations courses, an introduction to college course with emphasis on research skills, time management, learning skills, meta-cognitive and critical thinking skills along with financial literacy and career/ major development.
2.Responsible for the development, monitoring and evaluation of the UF curriculum. Coordination and development responsibilities include administrative responsibility, curriculum development/enhancement, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of professional development training programs for LNSK 103 UF instructors.
3. Provide Academic Advising to Conditionally Admitted students.
4.Oversee the Pathways Program and Conditional Admittance program in collaboration with Admissions and New Student Enrollment as well as other programs and academic units on campus.
5. Research and service responsibilities include assessment and evaluation of LNSK 103 course program and other aspects of LSO.
6. Act as study skills consultant for students, faculty and staff; implement presentations and workshops on campus.
