Brief Summary of Job Description
The University of Nebraska at Kearney is seeking applications for a Health Science Explorers Coordinator. The Health Science Explorers program is a career awareness and development program that will be a pipeline for students interested in healthcare careers from 7th grade to professional school in health sciences. The primary function of the coordinator will be recruitment and retention of health science students at UNK. This will include coordination of activities related to the Health Science Explorers pipeline including event planning, advertising, working with students, coordinating camps and career exploration experiences, building relationships in the healthcare community, overall health science recruitment, promoting job shadowing and internships for health science students, as well as assisting with scholarship programs and learning community activities.
Job Duties
• Coordinate all activities, events, and duties related to the Health Science Explorers pipeline program including recruitment and retention responsibilities
• Responsible for 7th/8th-grade Health Science Days, Health Science Summer Day Camps, Week-long camps, Health Careers Fair, and other pipeline events – includes planning, organization, marketing, registration, curriculum
• Recruitment – Including recruitment for pipeline events/activities, the Health Science Explorers Learning Community, and KHOP, as well as general Health Sciences recruiting including visits with prospective students, assisting with health career fair, and other events
• Assist with programming and events for UNK undergraduate students in the pipeline program, including internships, and both KHOP and Health Science Explorers Learning Communities
• Data tracking and program assessment
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Health Sciences
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree; strong people skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; managerial and organizational skills; ability to oversee and coordinate activities; computer literacy
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree; two years experience in higher education; knowledge of healthcare careers and healthcare education programs
Schedule M-F, 8 am - 5 pm, 40 hours, some nights and weekends required
