Custodial Manager - Facilities Management & Planning
Under the direction of Director of Facilities Management and Planning, the Custodial Manager is responsible for the cleanliness, appearance and working environment of over 2.0 million square feet of academic buildings and residence halls. This position provides direct supervision of three staff and indirect supervision of over 50 staff, which includes hiring, training, evaluation and retention issues.
Job Duties: Providing leadership to subordinate supervisors in planning, establishing and maintaining the highest achievable custodial programs commensurate with the resources made available. Regularly provides resources for the intra-campus movement of inventory, and support before, during and after all special events. Manages resources, sets expectations for service, and exerts quality control over Custodial Services to ensure responsiveness to campus needs; conducts periodic building inspections to insure that standards are being maintained. Operate within authorized budget; evaluate fiscal needs, establishing priority spending, creating effective cost controls; generally manage fiscal resources in a prudent manner. Develops programs necessary for the improvement of the operation of Facilities Operations, including standards and personnel training programs. Coordinates training and quality assurance needs with others in Facilities Management and Planning. Responsible for the timely treatment and elimination of various pests from campus buildings.Responsible for hiring, training, retaining staff, motivating subordinates; delegation of duties; effective use of human resources, EEO and AA. Supervise custodial leaders, and manage custodial resources. Provide annual evaluations of staff. Screen, interview and select applicants for regular, temporary and student positions. Evaluates performance of custodial personnel; prepares and submits disciplinary action and incident reports. Ensure employees are following safe work procedures. Special programs/projects and other duties as assigned. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and experience working closely with contractors, vendors, suppliers. Establishes audit procedures to judge and adjust the systematic and uniform performance of all custodial assigned tasks, test and implement new cleaning techniques including green cleaning procedures. Responsible for the planning, coordinating, and scheduling of daily custodial operations and special custodial projects as it impacts campus operations.
