The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department within the School of Medicine with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 200 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department’s highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department’s robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. Other areas of excellence include Addictions, Autism, High Risk Youth, Neurosciences, and Trauma, and the Department is developing innovative new programs in Technology and Mental Health, Global Mental Health, Maternal and Child Mental Health, and Targeted Intervention Development.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for two Instructional Designer positions.
Position Purpose:
The AIMS Center in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences seeks a full-time Instructional Designer with strong project planning and project management skills to contribute to strategic and operational components of healthcare training and development programs. This position plays a strategic role in contributing to existing training programs and leading the development of new initiatives within the Center. As a member of the Education team, the Instructional Designer leads the design, development, evaluation and continuous improvement of national training programs for healthcare providers and organization leadership to support the AIMS Center and the UW integrated Care Training Program within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, which is focused on increasing access to mental health care through psychiatric education and training.
This position will be required to use independent judgment to initiate and manage complex tasks to support a wide variety of bi-directional integration training projects and initiatives of varied size and scope. Employee will be expected to work effectively with external contracting organizations, partner organizations, consultants and internal teams to coordinate project contributions. The position will need to develop fluency in online training technologies. The position will function independently to plan and deliver components of larger team projects, need to prioritize multiple responsibilities, have a high attention to detail, and work accountably and effectively as part of a team.
This position will manage components of large scale national training programs that are highly visible to healthcare organizations, policy-makers and healthcare providers throughout the United States and abroad, and his/her interactions will reflect on the UW to this large group of people. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementing programs that encourage healthcare organizations and providers to use evidence based methods in their practice. His/her success will impact future funding in this area. As part of the AIMS Center team, the position will have the responsibility of establishing and maintaining positive and effective relationships with a wide range of staff and faculty, collaborators, colleagues, funders, students and community partners.
