The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Utah, is seeking candidates for faculty clinician investigators. Faculty rank and track are dependent upon the qualifications of the applicant. Start-up funding is available to establish the investigator in the Division of General Internal Medicine until an independent program is established and/or a career-development award is obtained. These funds are available for salary and program support during the first three years of the appointment to ensure sufficient protected research time to allow the establishment of an independent research program and/or receipt of a career-development award.

The Division of General Internal Medicine is building a robust, multi-faceted research program. Currently, the Division of General Internal Medicine has a history of clinical research in thrombosis, hypertension, and women's health and has also been an institutional leader in quality improvement and value-driven outcomes projects. Candidates should be interested in establishing an independent research program that builds on the strengths of the Division and adds new dimensions to our current portfolio.

The University of Utah has numerous, robust resources that are available for research collaboration outside of the Division of General Internal Medicine. These include the Department of Population Health Science, the other Divisions of the Department of Internal Medicine, the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, and the Veterans Affairs Hospital. We also strongly encourage interdisciplinary collaboration with the Colleges of Nursing, Health, and Pharmacy as well as research that will capitalize on existing community partnerships.
