Job Description Summary
Penn Vet is seeking a Jr. Clinical Applications Support Specialist to join our team. In this role you will provide analytical and troubleshooting skills for implementing and supporting technology applications for Penn Vet hospital user communities. With guidance from senior IT analysts, you will resolve highly complex, multi-function application errors and system issues. In addition, you will address support requests and coordinate them within Penn Vet IT help desk.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the assessment, coordination, documentation, release note review, testing, and implementation of custom applications, upgrades to current systems, and project requests.
  • Address support requests and coordinate them within Penn Vet IT help desk application.
  • With guidance from a senior IT analyst and/or manager, act as a liaison between various hospital departments and advocate for users' needs.
  • With guidance from a senior IT analyst and/or manager, resolve highly complex, multi-function application errors and system issues.
  • Provide and communicate clear documentation for support, status, and issue resolutions.
  • Develops and maintains process documentation to support both technical and end-user staff.
  • Provide training assistance for application users and other staff.
  • Work closely with vendors' technical teams to resolve certain issues that cannot be resolved in-house.
  • Provide on-call after-hours support.
  • The position will be located at the PHL campus in Philadelphia, PA, with the potential for the incumbent to be called upon to offer hospital-level support at either Penn Vet campus, requiring travel to both locations. The second Penn Vet campus is situated in Kennett Square, PA.
  • Occasional lifting 25-50 lbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree in Information Sciences is preferred.
  • A cover letter is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and to interact positively and productively with teams across departmental lines, including administrative and executive staff is required.
  • Experience with supporting an EMR or hospital information system, with expertise in hospital or ambulatory clinical computer applications is desired, but not required.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative, establishes personal goals, and takes responsibility for meeting them within the defined timelines required.
  • Essential to this role is the capacity to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, adapting to unforeseen changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to analyze various computer programs and applications to achieve desired output.
  • Strong aptitude for acquiring and mastering new technical skills, showcasing a proactive approach to continuous learning and adaptability in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
  • Experience with leading multiple initiatives concurrently is preferred.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, including the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Must also be a highly motivated self-starter capable of working both independently and as a member of a team.
