Job Description

Summary

The Office of the Dean of Students in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Missouri seeks a dynamic and customer-focused individual to build new and creative programs to engage Mizzou parents and family members to cultivate a deep and meaningful sense of membership in the university community for parents and families. The Coordinator for Mizzou Families and Off-Campus Student Services assumes primary responsibility for a broad array of activities designed to develop and enhance the University's relationship with students, parents, and families. This position will serve as the primary liaison and advocate for parents and family members, as well as students in need of off-campus housing information. The Coordinator will oversee the planning and implementation of a large assortment of programs and events for parents and families, as well as students currently or considering living off campus.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as the point of contact and manage communications for all parents and family members and serve as the liaison to various university departments, programs, and offices to represent family concerns and provide advice to connect families and students with necessary university information and resources.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Communication and Marketing team to develop communications with parents and families, volunteers, campus, and community partners.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination and implementation of various on-campus and off-campus parent and family programs and events, including but not limited to: Move-in Days, Family Weekend, bi-annual Off-Campus Housing Fair, regional parent & alumni receptions and summer send-off functions.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for Family Weekend events.
  • Work closely with campus partners to develop & implement opportunities for parents and family members to engage at Mizzou.
  • Provide information to families of students through the family assistance line, email and monthly newsletters.
  • Develop and implement educational and social programming for students that currently or are considering living off-campus.
  • Represent Mizzou Families and Off-Campus Student Services at orientation and admissions events.
  • Participates on committees as assigned.
  • Partner with Student Affairs Assessment to regularly and comprehensively assess the experience of parents and families and off-campus students in a manner that substantively informs future program decisions.
  • Partner with divisional and campus stakeholders to ensure that parents and families are informed of campus resources.
  • This position will also integrate strategic, financial, operational, and considerations to keep expenses within budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday - Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in a student affairs related field.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$18.50 - $26.50 per hour; paid on a bi-weekly basis.
