Physical Requirements

Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and over 50lbs; Standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs to 100 lbs; Working at heights above 4 feet; Confined spaces; Loud noises; Temperature extremes; Hazardous chemicals, fumes, including waste.

Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and movement of the whole body, such as required in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

May need to stay in one position for a long period of time while welding, and may have to work in adverse weather conditions.

Ability to work off scissor lift, aerial lift, and ladder.

Shift

7:30am – 4:15pm (Monday – Friday)

Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors, emergencies, and crisis management requiring night(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Utilities Systems Supervisor, this position performs a wide variety of essential metal joinery methods to join together an enormous variety of metals; carefully manages and shapes every weld pool to ensure strength and durability, especially in piping subject to shock, heavy pressure, or the elements; chooses the right gas for the right job; Utilizes brazing and filler metals when necessary; employs soldering for smaller-scale jobs or to create delicate joints when necessary; calculates dimensions, reads blueprints, and understands 2D and 3D diagrams; trims metal objects and components to precise dimensions; cleans grease and corrosion from work pieces and double-checks all utilized equipment; creates and ensures strong, smooth joints and minimal flaws; and assists in designing and implementing piping solutions for customers, as needed.
