Marketing Coordinator
The Marketing Coordinator is a highly collaborative position. The primary role will be to create content for a collegiate brand in partnership with the offices of Professional Education, Graduate Education, Human Resources, and External Relations to support strategic initiatives such as increasing student and faculty recruitment, retention efforts, and advancing engagement. This position will compile and evaluate data, communicate results, and manage messaging targeted at potential applicants. The Marketing Coordinator will develop and implement college-branded content using a mixed-media platform to build awareness and advance the UI College of Pharmacy.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Research and Analysis
Provide ideas and assist in brainstorming sessions. Perform basic data analysis and research specific questions and/or tactics for marketing plan. May provide routine tracking reports.
- Collaborate with internal groups to brainstorm and develop media and communication plans.
- Draft reports for marketing campaigns; provide recommendations to improve future efforts.
- Monitor website and social media traffic.
Marketing Plan
Develop and perform specific tasks related to marketing plan. Consult with key stakeholders to optimize content and increase storytelling according to their needs. Examples include:
- Design, facilitate, and coordinate brochures, fliers, and direct mail pieces.
- Create and edit video for digital platforms.
- Build and expand collegiate social media presence.
Brand Management
Understand the principles of brand management and demonstrate brand consistency in all projects.
- Assist with brand compliance throughout the college.
- Adhere to brand standards when working with digital templates, faculty websites, microsites, and merchandise ordering.
- Collaborate with students to ensure brand conformity related to merchandise fundraising.
Project Management
Organize and monitor project work. Manage, track, and report project completion, paying close attention to deadlines. Projects include:
- Planning and scheduling complex photo shoots.
- Working with faculty to enhance website content areas (such as palliative care, departmental, faculty research, and student care pages).
- Working with directors and DEOs to upgrade website people directory.
- Creating survey tools to collect and analyze data.
- Poll students to ask, ‘Why Iowa?’, or ‘Why Pharmacy?’
- Poll alumni to ask about their involvement wishes.
Financial Responsibility
Provide input to the budget development process. May monitor accounts/expenditures for selected projects.
- Contribute to unit budget in carrying out projects.
Supervision/Leadership
May provide direction, assignments, feedback, and coaching to assure outcomes are achieved.
- May provide direction, feedback, and to student workers and/or staff.
Financial Responsibility
Monitor expenditures and reconcile statements as needed. Determine project or event costs and provide input to budget development. May monitor and report on designated budget components.
- Contribute to unit budget in carrying out outreach events and projects.

Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or Journalism; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience preferably in an education, non-profit, or similar setting.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to write, proof and edit content in accordance with established brand guidelines.
- Experience creating video content to tell a story.
- Experience with social media and posting social media content in a professional manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation for assignment completion.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with graphic design.
- Knowledge of and experience with web publishing tools.
- Experience working in teams and working collaboratively to achieve a goal.
