Finance Intern
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs a variety of professional accounting functions and financial research and analysis in a governmental setting to support the divisions of the Finance and Management Services Department which include Accounts Payable, Budget, Central Accounting, Payroll, Risk Management, Purchasing, and Financial Systems.
- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Shadows the different divisions of the Finance & Management Services department, including Accounts Payable, Budget, Central Accounting, Payroll, Risk Management, Purchasing, and Financial Systems
- Assists in researching, collecting and preparing data for various accounting projects, including benchmarking, performance measures, etc.
- Assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports and account reconciliations
- Conducts basic office functions as needed, including data entry and file management
- REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education
Required: High school diploma. Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business. Completion of at least 10 credit hours towards a degree with emphasis in accounting or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Additional Requirements
- Subject to a complete criminal history background with acceptable results. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description.
