RYDE Transit Driver/Dispatcher/Scheduler
Position: RYDE Driver
Program and Location: RYDE Transit, Kearney
Position Summary: RYDE Transit Drivers offer safe and timely curbside pick-up and delivery of riders.
Responsibilities:
- Safe and defensive operation of transit vehicles.
- Adherence to all laws governing the operations of motor vehicles in the state of Nebraska.
- Safety of all passengers: enforcement of the use of all policies pertaining to the safe and efficient operations of transit vehicles.
- Customer service agent for the agency.
Tasks and Duties:
- Operate vehicles in transit service, within and between cities.
- Provide safe transportation for the general public.
- Provide short-term and long-term preventative maintenance and service including, but not limited to: checking and filling fluids, performing pre and post-trip inspections as directed, and cleaning, as needed.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit in a timely fashion, reports as needed by various agency departments.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Nebraska Driver’s license. CDL not required.
- Good driving record.
- Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screen.
- Must pass pre-employment and annual background checks.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and lift.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
- Promote a positive and enthusiastic image.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public as well as with other agency employees.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
Schedule/Hours: Looking for part-time and substitute drivers. Part-time hours would be 10-15 hours per week and substitutes are on call, as needed. All hours are Monday – Friday.
Pay Rate: $10.50 per hour. Benefits are not available for this position.

Position: Dispatcher/Scheduler
Program and Location: RYDE Transit - Kearney
Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely, dependable, cost-effective operation of transit program.
- Continually monitor transit service to ensure the most efficient utilization.
- Maintain effective communication between divers and other staff regarding safe and efficient operations of transit vehicles.
- Monitor system to ensure passengers are picked up and dropped off in a timely manner.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in communicating with all contacts.
- Customer service agent for the agency.
Tasks and Duties:
- Receive and schedule incoming requests from passengers for the ride schedules.
- Help resolve passenger concerns and complaints.
- Perform duties of a driver, as needed and when tasked with operating transit vehicles, obey all laws governing the operations of transit vehicles in the state of Nebraska.
- Perform paperwork and other office duties to ensure efficient operation of the Transit program.
Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nebraska Driver’s License.
- Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing Drug and Alcohol screen.
- Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing Department of Motor Vehicles Record Check.
- Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing Abuse and Neglect Registry Check.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel and lift.
- Must be able to properly operate and maintain various vehicles in the agency fleet.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of computers and related programs.
- Must have comprehensive-time management skills.
- Must have a high degree of customer service skills.
- Must keep all agency matters confidential.
Required Skills:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Promote a positive and enthusiastic image.
- Relate to and communicate with various personalities and possess an awareness of human needs.

Position Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Prior experience in dispatching and scheduling a plus, but not required.
Schedule/Hours: Position is full-time, 40 hours a week. Typical work hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Pay Rate and Benefits: Starting hourly wage of $11.00. The position is eligible for COVID incentive and yearly incentive based on funding availability. Benefits provided include paid holidays, PTO, short-term disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program.
