The School of Social Work, housed in the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position for the rank of Assistant Professor. Boise State is Idaho's largest Carnegie Doctoral Research University, enrolling the largest number of graduate students in Idaho. Position Overview:
Boise State University School of Social Work's vision is to cultivate the transformation of lives and the creation of inclusive communities by advancing health, well-being, and social justice. Boise State University has growing enrollments, and new colleagues would be joining the largest graduate program at the university. As the School of Social Work continues to grow, new faculty will have the opportunity to help develop a doctoral program in the near future.
The selected candidate will teach a variety of courses in the School to support both undergraduate and graduate programs in online and face-to-face formats. Many Boise State University students are first-generation students. Successful candidates must be able to encourage and support students of color, women, LGBTQ+ students, and other underrepresented groups, and will be interested in participating in initiatives that aim to increase inclusivity on our campus and in our community. Candidates with a history of, or strong potential for, effective university teaching, research resulting in external funding and peer-reviewed publication, and a commitment to service at the department, college, university, and community levels will be considered.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in Social Work, Social Welfare, or another closely-related discipline
- An MSW from a CSWE accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years fulltime post-MSW practice experience
- Consideration will be given to doctoral candidates who are ABD and whose graduation date is spring or summer 2020
- A background in macro practice
- A background in one of the areas of housing, health disparities, severe/persistent mental illness, or child welfare
- A research focus on immigrant/refugee populations or LatinX communities
- Experience or strong potential for research as evidenced by a record of peer-reviewed publication and/or external funding

- A strong commitment to working with students and fostering their professional development
- Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and practice areas in both teaching and research
- Interest, experience, and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity
