Kern Community College District in Bakersfield, California announces its search for President of Bakersfield College. Established in 1913, Bakersfield College (BC) is one of the nation's oldest continuously operating community colleges and is the largest of the three colleges that make up the Kern Community College District (Kern CCD) It is a federally-designated Hispanic-Serving Institution, and is fully accredited by the WASC Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. The college is recognized for: its outcomes in advancing student success and meeting state system Vision for Success goals; its local, regional and national partnerships for demonstrated community and economic impact; and its leadership in Guided Pathways, dual enrollment, and other initiatives to strengthen institutional effectiveness.
The college serves 28,000 students annually on the 153-acre main campus in northeast Bakersfield, at the Delano Campus 35 miles north of Bakersfield, the Weill Institute in downtown Bakersfield, and BC SouthWest in southwest Bakersfield. Classes are also offered at several alternative locations throughout the service area. There are just over 1,000 employees including 720 full- and part-time faculty, The annual unrestricted budget is $190 million.
