Auto Mechanic
Accomack County Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for a Auto Mechanic opening.
SALARY: commensurate with experience

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for working under general supervision assisting with Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) mandated inspections on fleet vehicles and performing intermediate to advanced diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks on gas, diesel, and alternative fuel powered fleet equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: High School or GED, A valid Virginia Driver's License, A valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (within 6 months of hire), A Forklift Operators License (within six (6) months of hire), Four (4) years of technical hands-on experience servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment in a commercial, industrial, or municipal environment. Preferred: An industry relevant certification in vehicular repair from an accredited college or trade school, Three (3) or more current individual ASE certifications in any of the following test series: Maintenance and Light Repair, Automobile Technician, School Bus Technician, or medium/Heavy Truck Technician, A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License, A comparable amount of training and experience maybe substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Accomack County Public Schools serve approximately 5,000 students in 11 schools. We have three island schools, including an elementary and middle/high school on Chincoteague Island, as well as the only K-12 combined school in Virginia, located on Tangier Island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. Our mainland schools include four elementary schools, two middle schools, and two comprehensive high schools, each with on-site career and technical centers (CTE). The high schools use a 4x4 block schedule and offer a variety of college level courses.
